Interview with illustrator Anna Kokora

Who is Anna Kokora, the illustrator behind this piece?

I am an illustrator and graphic designer who enjoys working in both digital and traditional media. In my personal art, I love exploring themes of nature, animals, and tranquility.

How this slogan resonated with you?

Loving and accepting yourself can be very challenging in a world that constantly expects us to look perfect and fit into rigid “beauty standards.” I am proud of myself, and of other women, for pushing back against these expectations and striving for harmony with ourselves.

what do you want people to get from this when they proudly wear it?

I want to make people feel happy and remind them that they are already beautiful, they don’t need to change anything to fit into someone else’s standards in order to like themselves or be loved.

And now our feminist questionnaire...

What is Feminism for you?

Feminism is very important for everyone. It has helped and continues to help women gain the equal rights and opportunities we all deserve.

Which “everyday sexism” really bothers you?

Clothing design. Women's clothing tends to be more uncomfortable, such as small (or non-existent) pockets, overly tight T-shirts.

Do you remember when you start identifying as a Feminist and why?

When I was a teenager, I read many feminist articles. They helped me realise that our rights are still not equal and showed me how important it is to continue fighting for them.

Who is your biggest feminist role model?

All the women who never stop fighting for our rights!

What is your favourite Feminist quote?

My body, my choice

What is your feminist recommendation?

  • Book: Invisible women by Caroline Criado-Perez

What is your feminist call of action to whoever is reading?

Be kind to yourself and others and don’t let anyone limit our rights.
