2. Disclosure (Netflix)
The American documentary film follows an in-depth look at Hollywood’s often warped depiction of transgender people, and the impact of their stories on transgender lives and American culture today. Disclosure celebrates the community in all its glory while also shining a light on the paradox that occurs when more representation results in more violation.
3. Emma
A British period comedy-drama film based on the 1815 novel by Jane Austen which offers a mix of social satire, romantic intrigue and endlessly reinterpretable gender politics. Handsome, clever and rich heroine Emma entertains herself, and subsequently us, by match-making and manipulating the relationships of those around her.
4. Military Wives

5. Misbehaviour (Amazon Prime)

6. Wonder Woman 1984

8. A Call to Spy (Amazon Prime)
At the dawn of World War II, Churchill orders that women be trained as covert spies as no one would expect a female to be a fearless, intelligent war informant, right? A Call to Spy follows a group of women agents as they help to undermine the Nazi regime in France, leaving an unmistakeable legacy in their wake.
9. Love Sarah (Amazon Prime)
A mother’s dream to open a bakery in Notting Hill unites a small group of nearest and dearest to come together to fulfil her wishes. Love Sarah is a feel good comedy/drama starring Olivier Award winning Celia Imrie.
10. Summerland (Amazon Prime)
When Frank, an evacuee from the London Blitz, upends writer Alice’s sequestered life she resolves to get rid of him. However, as they are forced to spend more time together, their bond and friendship grows. This film successfully combined an intelligent feminist fable and a lesbian love story with a slick period tearjerker.
11. A Secret Love (Netflix)
This extraordinary film looks back on the lesbian relationship between Pat Herschel and Terry Donahue, kept secret from friends and family for seven decades. The two inspiringly strong women presented themselves as best friends in a time when they could be arrested for loving one another. This documentary film is an amazing and eye-opening true love story.
12. Becoming (Netflix)
This documentary film gives an amazing look at former First Lady, Michelle Obama’s, life, hopes and connections with others. Becoming is an insightful, entertaining and inspirational film featuring footage of Obama's travels, talk-shows and her work during her tenure as the First Lady.
13. Broken Hearts Gallery (Amazon Prime)
Overflowing with charm and personality, The Broken Hearts Gallery follows Lucy, a romantic hoarder, living in New York City who saves a little souvenir from each of her past relationships. A romantic-comedy to remember, we see easy-to-love characters go through all the emotions of a break-up and realise that they’re not alone.
14. Little Women (Amazon Prime)
Little Women is a romantic drama film showing the three superb March sisters as they enter womanhood in the 1800s. Unsurprisingly, the film received six nominations at the Academy Awards as a story of sisterhood, friendship, love and loss.
15. Birds of prey (Amazon Prime)
Harley Quinn navigates her independence from the joker after their break up and becomes part of a deadly group of women who crave the same emancipation. Birds of Prey is the all female, twisted, superhero film delight we’ve been waiting for.
16. Antebellum
Antebellum is a psychological horror film from the producers of Get Out. Actress Janelle Monéa, as the lead, a modern-day African-American woman who has her life turned upside down when she finds herself in a Southern slave plantation. She is forced to confront the past, present and future in her attempts to escape before it’s too late.
17. Feminists: What Were They Thinking?
This empowering documentary film highlights the history of feminism and how unity, sorority and passion can shift culture and lift societal restrictions. Women of different ages and backgrounds are interviewed on the subject of feminism and we are left with an incredibly inspiring, perfectly balanced and important piece of art.

End of Sentence is a short-film documentary that follows women in India fighting the stigma surrounding menstruation and learn how to operate a machine that provides low-cost, biodegradable sanitary pads. The Oscar winning film shows the importance of shedding the taboo around periods as well as the gravity of access to feminine hygiene.
20. The Woman in the Window
